"Video Trickery"
a.k.a. The Art of Illusion Seminar

On Saturday, February 25, 2006, students practiced the art of illusion by filming and then editing a live African Drumming performance.  The one-day "Video Trickery Seminar" was held at the Alexander Dawson School in Lafayette, with students coming in from six different high schools plus home school.

The Students filmed Mohammed Alidu, Master African Drummer, repeatedly playing different parts of the same song, in different positions on a 'stage', using a blue-screen.

And then had a little fun learning rhythm through dancing......

The afternoon was devoted to editing the footage using Final Cut Pro on Mac G5's.  The students synchronized the multiple 'takes' of the song and edited them into a timeline so that their final film brought in four drummers performing at once, who all just happen to be Mohammed!
