The Once & Future Art of Filmmaking

Our 2008 Summer Filmmaking Camp, held at Tara Performing Arts High School in Boulder, included 21 film and acting students who created 9 amazing films!

Middle School Workshop at Watershed School

Nine middle school students at Watershed School in Boulder created two clever films during their Explore Week - Jan 5-9, 2009. The week included script-writing, filming, editing, and a final screening with fimmaker Q&A.

Fast Films at New Vista High - October 2008

Looking Glass Arts in conjunction with the The Shootout Boulder 24 Hour Film Festival hosted a workshop for filmmakers aged 17 and Under to help prepare them for the 24 Hour Shootout.

Raiders of the Lost Ark - The Adaptation

On April 21, 2008 Looking Glass Arts hosted a screening of the Raiders of the Lost Ark - The Adaptation, which was created by 3 teens in the 1980s.  The filmmakers were in attendance.

Watershed Explore Week - 2008

Looking Glass Arts worked with 13 middle school students during their annual "Explore Week" in learning video filmmaking. The students made numerous group films and had lots of fun, too!

Big Head Todd and the Monsters

In early November 2007, Looking Glass Arts students video taped Big Head Todd and the Monsters rehearse in Kitaro's Mochi House. BHTM's "All the Love You Need" DVD includes footage shot during this weekend rehearsal.

Playing for Change - World Mirror Project Launch

During the Fall of 2007, Looking Glass Arts provided a once-in-a-lifetime filmmaking opportunity for high school students in collaboration with Playing for Change.

Something Underground Concert Filming

On August 24, 2007 a group of high school filmmakers video taped a live concert for the band "Something Underground" at Immersive Studios in Boulder.

Fast Films at New Vista High School - 2007

On October 6, 2007, Looking Glass Arts and the 24-Hour Shootout Boulder co-hosted a lively Workshop to prepare filmmakers 17 & Under for the 24 Hour Shootout.

Summer 2007's Filmmaking Adventure and Filmmaking Intensive

Looking Glass Arts held two Summer workshops where high school students created their own original films and held a formal screening.

Acting & Filmmaking Workshop for Middle School Students

Middle School Filmmakers created unique videos on "Life as a Middle School Student" at the Alexander Dawson School.

Makindu Concert Editing Workshop

Using footage from the Makindu Concert, students learned technical, multi-cam editing plus key-frame manipulations and special effects with Final Cut Pro during a one-day workshop held at Dawson High School.

Makindu Concert

Dawson High School students held a benefit concert for an orphanage in Kenya.  Looking Glass Arts film students filmed the event, which will become part of a documentary on the Makindu Children's Centre.

PeaceJam Slam

Seven film students presented their award winning films to PeaceJam participants and discussed their experiences and ideas on how film could be a powerful tool to convey the message of a PeaceJam Project.

PeaceJam's "A Global Call to Action"

Seven students filmed the PeaceJam's 10th Anniversary Celebration.  The footage will be used in a documentary about 10 Nobel Peace Laureates and their work with teens around the world.

Summer 2006 Filmmaking Intensive

Students from the Denver/Boulder area participated in a 4-week video filmmaking intensive, working on all aspects of video filmmaking from pre-production, shooting, and post-production.

Friday, March 24, 2006 - An evening benefit concert with Coleman Barks reciting the ecstatic poetry of Jelaluddin Rumi, a Sufi poet, and accompanied by world-renown musicians David Darling, Cellist and Ty Burhoe, Tabla Player.
